Meet Dr. Elizabeth Rydell
I think there is no greater profession than dentistry and no greater honor than to be an oral healthcare provider.
I enjoy meeting and caring for each and every patient. The opportunity to combine a unique set of skills to make a difference in someone’s smile — in their dental health and self-image — is rewarding. I equally love educating my patients so they can be active, knowledgeable partners in their oral health. Oral health and total body health are tightly linked and I love helping patients understand those connections. Working with an individual, gently guiding them to take care of their health and seeing them make positive changes, keeps me energized.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Arts – DePauw University
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Minnesota School of Dentistry
- Master of Business Administration – Southern New Hampshire University
I grew up in a dental household: my dad was an oral surgeon and I wanted to be a dentist since early childhood. I have been in practice for 30 years and “live dentistry” at work and at home, since my husband is a fellow dentist, who happens to be my business partner.
Dentistry is a perfect blend of my interests and aptitude. I enjoy doing things with my hands, love caring for others, and enjoy the skill and science of dentistry. Bringing all of these elements together and directing them into improving the lives of my neighbors is my passion.
In practice, I love getting to know every patient as an individual. Hearing a person’s unique story, sharing a laugh, listening, and learning from their experiences broadens me professionally and personally.
Continuing Education, Professional Affiliations, and Volunteerism
Since completing dental school, I have actively sought out continuing education opportunities. In attending conferences, seminars, lectures, studying oral healthcare literature, and taking online courses, I stay current with the latest materials and methods. Additionally, I have attended the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida, where I expanded my knowledge of comprehensive dentistry through a multi-week continuum.
As a member of the American and Minnesota Dental Associations, I learn from the leading practitioners and researchers in dentistry, as well as my peers. Dentistry is always changing, with research leading to different materials, techniques, and technology. it is important that I continually gain education and insights in order to deliver the best care and service to for my patients.
Additionally, I am a big supporter of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. This profession has been an important part of my life and has given me many opportunities. I’m happy to support the school and the students through teaching, serving on the alumni board, and serving on various capital campaign committees.
Beyond the Office
I grew up in Minneapolis and have lived in St. Paul for nearly 30 years. My husband, Dr. Steve Bejarano, and I graduated together from the University of Minnesota. We have two young adult children — both are pursuing careers in healthcare — and a Golden Retriever who get us out for regular walks.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, hiking, and mountain biking year-round. I also like cross-country skiing, needlepoint, cooking, gardening in the summer, and spending time at our cabin in northern Wisconsin. Above all, I treasure time with my loved ones.
